Is the connection real? You meet someone, you get along really well, then you start thinking – hey do you care about me? Do you enjoy my presence, do you just want to be around me because of my magnetic personality – or do you have secret desires towards me? It’s important to own your desires, your intentions and share them openly in your first or second meeting to bring clarity to the conversation. Clarity creates trust.
Conscious communciation
Building trust involves owning, clarifying and expressing your desires and boundaries. But some people say, what about just going with the flow? When you begin to feel that fire burning inside, doesn’t stopping to have conversations like this risk losing the connection? And what I would reply is that it doesn’t make the situation less sexy – quite the opposite. Consent is sexy – it’s just like saying, I feel like I want to jump on you and do this and that. It feels so good and it feels so empowering. And then the other person can just say yes or no or even that there’s no need to ask! It’s amazing to know what we are getting into and making sure that we are aligned. It’s not just our individual assumptions but we have the same assumptions. Because we are humans and for women especially, conscious communication is very important.
How do we empower each other?
And after we have the intentions, desires and boundaries clear, I like to add, as the cherry on the top – how are you going to enhance my life? How am I going to be empowered by this connection? Its important to find out I am I receiving from being in your presence and clarity creates trust in this as well. What’s going to be valuable about you to me – and what’s going to be valuable about me to you?
